Capable of peace in times of war - Analyses and recommendations of the Peace Report 2022
Online event by BICC (Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies) and EAiR (Protestant Academy in the Rhineland) on 1 September 2022, 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., via Zoom (in German).
The Peace Report 2022, published by Germany's leading peace research institutes in June, focuses on Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine in violation of international law and its worldwide political, economic and social consequences. On 1 September 2022, Professor Conrad Schetter, Director of BICC and co-editor of the Peace Report, will present and discuss its most important recommendations.
With its commitment to a "values-based foreign policy" in the coalition agreement, the German government emphasizes that respect for human rights and international law is a top priority. The withdrawal of the Bundeswehr from Afghanistan and Germany's handling of local forces also raises questions about how German—feminist—foreign policy should behave towards the Taliban. In his presentation, Conrad Schetter will also address this aspect of the Peace Report.
