This concluding chapter argues for a dialogue between Migration and Refugee Studies and Peace and Conflict Studies, foregrounding the concept of translocal social fields and their transformations under conditions of violence and war. By adopting a translocal lens, the book challenges the methodological nationalism that has long shaped scholarship and highlights the significance of the places and connections that mediate the mobility of people, resources and ideas within and across borders. The contributions to this volume demonstrate how an interdisciplinary approach opens new avenues for rethinking translocal lives in contexts of conflict. Rather than treating migration and conflict as separate or sequential phenomena, the chapters conceptualise them as mutually constitutive and deeply entangled processes. Within this relational framework, mobility, displacement and conflict emerge as interconnected dynamics that shape and reshape one another across different spatial and temporal scales. By engaging more closely with the temporal dimensions of translocal constellations, we attend to how these dynamics evolve over time and across shifting political and social contexts. Ultimately, translocal and temporal perspective deepens our understanding of migration–conflict dynamics while offering insights that can inform more innovative and durable approaches in research, policy, and practice.
