Dr Venance Shillingi (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer, Researcher and Management Consultant at Mzumbe University, School of Public Administration and Management (SOPAM), Morogoro, Tanzania, East Africa. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Nairobi Kenya; MBA (corporate management) and Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) both from Mzumbe University, Tanzania. He has published in strategies, conflicts, private securities, quality service delivery and implementation of strategic plans. His research tradition is pragmatism (mixed method design), and his research interest is in conflict management and resolution, revenue enhancement in LGAs, and strategic management. Dr Shillingi has over 15 years of lecturing, research and consultancy. He has also trained broadly in areas of strategy, strategic negotiation, revenue enhancement strategies in LGAs, governance & leadership, and other related general management courses. In terms of research, he has supervised one PhD student as a co-supervisor, 70+ master’s students (thesis), and 150+ undergraduate students (field research). Dr Shillingi is married to CPA Sarah R. Mngoya and a father of four kids.

Collaboration with BICC:

He is collaborating with BICC in the framework of the research project “Future Rural Africa” (funded by the German Research Foundation), which investigates the violent side of future-making in East and southern Africa.
