Topics

During your work you might have come across armed youth before, or have some youth in your group that may have been associated with guns in some way or another, or your organization is working with youth living in SALW saturated areas. Youth and small arms is a complex and serious issue, which deserves much more attention than it presently receives.
The objective of this module is to:
  • Provide you with a basic background knowledge on SALW issues in general, and their impacts on youth in particular.
  • Provide you with an overview on the reasons youth "choose" to become involved with SALW, under which circumstances this can happen and in what ways they become involved with SALW.
  • Assist you in designing a project plan for the youth they are working with.
  • Provide you with an overview of different types of activities, which can be undertaken by the trainees together with the youth.
