Climate change as a driver of forced displacment

On the Global Impacts and Challenges SERIES: FORCED DISPLACEMENT AND MIGRATION

Human-induced climate change is affecting migratory movements worldwide. Droughts and floods are forcing many people to leave their home regions and flee to neighboring regions or countries. However, there are also people who choose to stay in their home region despite the consequences of climate change. Despite these real consequences for those affected, climate change is still not recognised as a cause of forced displacement in Germany and Europe.

The event aims to ask both those who stay and those who leave how they deal with climate change. The event will also address current climate and migration policies and discuss Germany's responsibility as a contributor to climate change. Last but not least, the discussion will address the question of what political measures are needed now to provide sustainable support for people affected by climate change.

You can participate in this event online or in person.
