Regional Training on physical security and stockpile management (PSSM) in Nigeria
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), with technical support from the Multinational Small Arms and Ammunition Group (MSAG), and BICC conducted the third training of a multi-phase PSSM course for the ECOWAS region from 12 to 22 November 2019.
This initiative is generously funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The course took place at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAILPKC) and saw 20 participants trained. These were drawn from military or police forces from all 15 ECOWAS member states and are tasked with weapons and ammunition management in their respective services. The participants, including two female officers, acquired theoretical and practical knowledge using international guidelines and best practices in PSSM. Ten instructor candidates selected during previous trainings of this kind in October 2018 and May 2019 successfully conducted a number of lessons as trainers themselves under supervision of MSAG. This helps prepare them for their future role of ECOWAS PSSM trainers.
