Again, Israeli government politicians and hawks in the United States are talking about military strikes against Iran and its nuclear program. Again, the United Nations and the European Union are preparing and imposing sanctions against Iran. The violent attack of Iranian students on the British embassy in Teheran shows the dangerous potential for the escalation of violence. Behind all this is the conflict around the Iranian nuclear program. The currently discussed political options only lead further into a dead end and cannot solve the problems and fears connected with the Iranian nuclear program. Since 2006, BICC has cast a critical eye on this issue in a number of conferences and publications. This BICC Focus will make a topical contribution to the discussion on an alternative to the current Iran policy.
