There were strong fears this Spring that Israel may have been about to launch an attack on Iran. US President Obama made it clear to Israeli Prime Minister Netanjahu that he considered such a course of action to be wrong at that given time.
Meanwhile, negotiations have got underway with Iran. Representatives of the five UN veto powers (United States, Russia, China, France and Great Britain) and Germany - the so-called P 5+1 states - have conferred (at expert level) with representatives of Iran in Istanbul, Baghdad, Moscow and finally once again in Istanbul. Jerry Sommer, BICC Associate Researcher, presents an analysis following three rounds of negotiations.
