Ryan Swan joined BICC in November 2021 and served as a Fellow until September 2026. He received a Doctoral Scholarship from the Gerda Henkel Foundation’s Special Programme for Security, Society and the State for his doctoral research on Chinese security policy and the impact of emerging military technologies on China-US deterrence relations. Prior to joining BICC, he served as a Research Associate at the Center for Global Security Research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in the United States.
