Anniversary \ 25 years of BICC

On 6 November 2019, BICC will mark its 25th anniversary with a special celebration. The main speaker will be Armin Laschet, Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia.

BICC (Bonn International Center for Conversion) was founded in 1994 as a non-university research institute by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the initiative of the then Prime Minister Johannes Rau and the then UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. Today, BICC is the largest peace and conflict research institute in North Rhine-Westphalia. BICC combines empirical research in conflict regions with a targeted transfer to the political arena.
On Wednesday, 6 November 2019, we will mark BICC's 25th anniversary with a special celebration. The main speaker will be Armin Laschet, Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia. Professor Michael Hoch, Rector of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn / Bonn Alliance for Sustainability Research, Reinhard Limbach, Mayor of the City of Bonn, and Professor Conrad Schetter, Director for Research of BICC, will also address the guests (starting at 4.30 p.m.).
After the ceremony, a discussion on "Ist die globale Politik noch zu retten? Was kann Friedens- und Konfliktforschung leisten?“ (JRF vor Ort, in German), at 6 p.m. will be followed by a reception.
The celebration will begin at 4:30 p.m. (admission 3:30 p.m).
