Migration Partnerships—Outsourcing of a European Controversy or Chance for a Just Cooperation with Third Countries?

Dr Zeynep Şahin-Mencütek chaired the Policy Lunch on “Migration Partnerships–Outsourcing of a European Controversy or Chance for a Just Cooperation with Third Countries?” in Brussels. The panel was hosted by the Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the European Union (EU) in Brussels and organised by sef (Development and Peace Foundation). Participants discussed whether such partnerships have the potential to contribute to a fair asylum and refugee policy in the EU and how such partnerships should be designed to meet Europe's ambition to regulate immigration more strictly while ensuring the protection and humane treatment of migrants and refugees.
