Now on YouTube\ Webinar "Policing, Pandemic and the American Racial Divide”

After the death of George Floyd, thousands of people publically demonstrated against police violence under the slogan "Black lives matter". Professor Thomas Mockaitis, DePaul University, Chicago, in his virtual talk on 24 June 2020 discussed structural racism in the US and how the pandemic has exacerbated it. In the webinar "Policing, Pandemic and the American Racial Divide: Understanding the Current Unrest", Thomas Mockaitis also focussed on the militarization of policing in the United States and addressed allegations that extremist groups promoted violence during protests.
Maurice Doering, Researcher at BICC and coordinator of CoRE-NRW - Connecting Research on Extremism in North Rhine-Westphalia, as discussant spoke to the German perspective.
