Since August 2021, the Taliban and their self-proclaimed Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) have imposed strict regulations that leave women-led organisations (WLOs) struggling to survive. Engaging strategically under the Taliban is risky but disengaging risks marginalising women even more. Donors must shift from funding transactional projects to funding sustained partnerships and investing in agency and resilience.
