TelePAtH - Food security in West Africa
Status
closed
Topics
- Violent Environments and Infrastructures
The overall aim of TelePAtH is to identify, measure, and characterize the feedback loops in Social Ecological coupled Systems (SES), the drivers and thresholds of tipping points, and the consequences of these tipping points on food security in West Africa. In this context BICC contributes in Phase I of the project to further the social subsystem of TelePAtH’s conceptual framework. The analytical focus of BICC’s work is on the interrelations between food security, migration and violent conflicts. In the course of this, various datasets (violent conflicts, migration, displacement and land use) will be collected along gradients from rural to urban and from humid to dryland regions of West Africa and tentatively analyzed. Cocoa and cashew production is of special interest in that regard.
